What's in a name?
The idea of creating a local club is so that a group of flyers can have access to a site with not only individual cover but also a 'club' level cover to insure the committee/organizers for any meets /events that are held as a club. It is envisaged that the club has one local site that they use in conjunction with the local council/land owners and that this is deemed their base site.
Should the club wish to visit other sites in any area they may do so. This allows the club a great level of flexibility in where and when they meet.
The structure of affiliated clubs is a flat one. This means that there are no regional clubs with clubs underneath them and yet further clubs below them. Each group that forms a club must affiliate to gain the cover provided in affiliation. A number of 'sub areas' spread around a larger geographic area increases the the risks to the club as they cannot be responsible for multiple sites at one time, this then increases the risk to the insurers.
It is for this reason that any clubs who affiliate will choose a base site and not use any name that would reflect any level of responsibility for more than that site alone unless the club as a whole is visiting another location whereby the responsibility travels with them. This does not affect the cover for each individual member. |
Documenation
As mentioned elsewhere on the page these documents will be a very close fit to the vast majority of clubs.
Whilst there is a general risk assessment for our sport you must consider creating a risk assessment for your own designated flying site.
It is envisaged that during the year we shall be holding meetings for all chairs or any affiliated clubs to discuss plans for the sport and its growth in the coming years.
Please remember that we are in this sport for the 'FUN' and it is not a business opportunity. |
